Douglas James Saville

December 28, 1967 — June 19, 2015

Douglas James Saville, 47, of Topeka, KS, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Health Care Center from complications of colon cancer.

Doug was born December 28, 1967, in Mount Ayr, IA, to James and Marilyn (Davis) Saville. He graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in 1986 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, MO in 1990.

He worked for various banks during his career. At the time of his death, he was branch manager and loan officer at Denison State Bank. He was a member of Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church.

Doug met his wife, Suzan P. Kolman, at Northeast Missouri State and they married on August 17, 1991. Doug and Suzan were blessed with two children, Bailey and Ryan. Doug was a very kind husband, father and son who treasured spending time with his family. His greatest joy was encouraging his children in their activities. He lovingly and patiently taught his children to play ball, run cross country, build and refinish furniture, and appreciate and play music. Bailey got her artistic talents from her father, and Ryan inherited his dad's passion for sports.

Music was a big part of Doug's life. He liked many different genres of music, especially 70s, 80s and 90s rock. Doug challenged himself to learn to play many of his favorite songs on his guitar. He had an incredible memory for song titles, lyrics and humorous movie quotes and enjoyed sharing this knowledge with others.

Doug is survived by his wife and children; his parents; aunts Paula Dimit, Ellen (Craig) Elliott, Kay Saville, and Carol (Mark) Eighmy; cousins Jeff Ridenour, Dana (Kenny) Mosher, Angela (Joe) Lathrop, Chris (Holly) Elliott, Derric (Jeanine) Saville, Nathan (Sunny) Eighmy, and Brandon (Veronica) Eighmy; mother-in-law Linda Kolman, sister-in-law Ann (John) Fletcher; nephews Justin Fletcher and Chance Fletcher, and many close friends.

Doug was preceded in death by grandparents Lloyd and Mildred Saville and Royce and Pearl Davis; uncle Jake Saville; aunt Ann Ridenour; cousin Janet Saville and father-in-law Paul Kolman.
