Billy Eugene "Doc" Milner, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 in South Padre Island, Texas. His passing was unexpected although peaceful as he was on his annual vacation at the beach. He was born June 29, 1939, the son of Orval E Milner and Vada Mae (Tiller).
Billy earned his undergraduate from the College of Emporia and his Master's Degree in mathematics from Emporia State University. He earned a Master's of Arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1965 and in 1970, his Doctor of Arts from the University of Northern Colorado. He taught mathematics at Washburn University for 30 years.
Billy and his wife, Marian enjoyed going to the casino often with Bob and Sue (Brother and Sister-In-Law). Doc's retirement also included golfing, fishing and spending time at the local tavern with his buddies. He was an avid fan of the Chiefs and enjoyed cheering them on especially the playoff game sending them to the super bowl as well as supporting the Kansas City Royals, KU Jayhawks and Washburn football and tailgates. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was the best Papa to his grandkids. They remember his perfect pancakes and milkshakes, playing games and enjoying his card and magic tricks, and his latest joke.
Billy married Marian Louise (Rosenboom) on September 5, 1959. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Kim Fowler (Mike) of Topeka and Patty Winslow (Tony) of League City, Texas, grandchildren, Nick Milner, Blake Winslow, Matt Fowler, Ali Fowler, Ashley Winslow and his sister Gloria Dillen.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronnie and Doyle and son Marc.
As per Billy's wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
