Dr. Charles Edward “Ed” Webber, 82, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
He was born August 13, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Edward and Florence (Greene) Webber. He was a graduate of Topeka High School, Washburn University and University of Missouri School of Dentistry. Upon graduation from dental school, he was commissioned in the United States Navy and subsequently attached to the Third Marine Division in Vietnam where he spent a year. Upon leaving the military he started his dental practice in Topeka in1969. He retired after over 50 years of dentistry. During his lifetime, he was a member of various organizations including Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Topeka Active 20/30 Club, Topeka Dental Society, Washburn Alumni, Topeka Symphony, Quail Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited and the Sunflower Music Festival. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Philip Billard Post #1650.
He married Helen Rees of Topeka on August 28, 1965, and to this union were born Dr. Rees Webber (Kathy) and Suzanne Seawel, all of Topeka. He later married Kathleen Sheehan who resides in Corte Madera, California. He is survived by his companion, Dianna Smith of Topeka. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Karsen Clennan (Nate), Morgan Webber, Luke Webber, Warren Seawel (Sophia) and Ginger Seawel; two great-grandchildren, Stella Clennan and Henry Clennan; and his sister, Janice Webber of Baltimore, MD.
Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, the symphony, traveling, spending time at his cabin and was proud of his military service.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1275 SW Boswell Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
