Dr. Daren Bradley Nigus, 55, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 from Fronto-Temporal Degeneration.
He was born June 29, 1965, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Charles "Russ" and Linda L. (Absher) Nigus. He was a graduate of Midway High School in Denton, Kansas. He received his BS in Biology from Missouri Western State University and his MD from Kansas University. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas and served four years at Munson Army Health Center at Ft. Leavenworth, Leavenworth, Kansas. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on June 30, 1999.
Dr. Nigus worked as anesthesiologist for St. Francis Hospital in Topeka for 14 years.
He was a member of Topeka Bible Church.
Daren married Deborah Lorraine Keys on June 16, 1989 in Topeka. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include five children, Amanda (Josiah) Crandall of Shawnee Mission, KS, Jesse Nigus of Topeka, Seth Nigus of Nashville, TN, Micah Nigus and Leah Nigus of the home; three grandchildren, Ayla, Emma, and David; his parents, Russ and Linda Nigus of Topeka; his brother, Daniel (Kelly) Nigus of St. Joseph, MO; his sister, Angela (Matt) McClorey of Lawrence, KS; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane. Interment with military honors will follow at Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd.
