Dr. Pedro "Edong" Fajardo, 84, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at a local care facility.

Dr. Fajardo was born June 29, 1927 in Lubao, Pampanga, Philippines, the son of Benigno and Francisca (Vitug) Fajardo. He graduated from Manila Central University and the University of Santo Tomas, both in Manila.. He practiced medicine in the Philippines and later was employed by the Medical department of the Chicago Park District. He retired in 1984.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Dr. Fajardo married Brenda Jovero on June 28, 1959 in Manila. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Jeffrey, Edward, Eric, Erle; daughter, Eileen; grandchildren, Bridget, Benigno, Isabella, Francesca; brothers, Francisco, Honorio, Anselmo, Eligio; and sisters, Corazon and Luz. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine; brothers, Jesus, Benigno, Antonio; and sister, Aurora.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Dr. Fajardo will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker road after 2:00 p.m. on Friday with a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
