Dwayne Keith Juhnke peacefully passed away on February 25, 2016. He was born in Halstead, Kansas on October 2, 1946, the son of Quinton and Ella (Stucky) Juhnke. He grew up on a farm near Inman, Kansas. Dwayne graduated from Inman High School in 1964 and moved to Kansas City to attend trade school to become an automotive mechanic. In 1966, he moved to Topeka to serve his 1W Service at Stormont-Vail Hospital. While there Dwayne met his beloved wife, Norma (Jones). They were married on November 16, 1968. After his service, he then used his auto mechanic training to start his 46 yearlong career with the Noller Dealership. He eventually became a service writer. Dwayne loved his job and helping others with their cars. He was known for his honesty and dedication to his customers. He received numerous awards for his outstanding job performances.
Dwayne loved being outdoors with the family, along with mowing, working on cars, and building odds and ends. Fixing things around the house for his family and friends, brought him happiness. Dwayne found great joy in spending time with, watching and supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities and adventures. Dwayne had several vehicles throughout his lifetime, but his two favorite were his 1976 yellow Ford van, which has 78,000 miles and his 1946 Ford pickup which was recently restored. He led his life with a deep commitment to God and living the teachings of Christ.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Norma; a daughter Colette (Travis) and her twin daughters Fayth and Chantse of Topeka Kansas; a son Darin (Cassie) and their twin sons Sam and Alex of Apopka, Florida; a brother Stan (Judy) of Hutchinson Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carlene Postier.
Visitation will be held Friday March 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Southern Hills Mennonite Church, 511 SE 37th ST, Topeka KS.
Services will be held Saturday March 5th at 10:00 AM at Southern Hills Mennonite Church.
Private inurnment will be held later.
