Earl L. Walker, 97, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Brewster Place.
Earl was born February 20, 1913 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Earl and Jessie (Conley) Walker. He graduated from Lafayette High School at St. Joseph in 1933. Earl married Edna Corrine Jamieson on April 22, 1939 in St. Joseph, MO. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his military service, Earl and Edna moved to Topeka in 1945. He was employed as an Electrician with the Veteran's Administration Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He and his wife were one of the founding families of T.A.R.C.
Survivors include a son, David (Mary) Walker, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 24, 2002 and son, Richard Walker in 1973.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Earl will lie in state at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N.
