Earle E. Wilkinson

Earle E. Wilkinson, 94, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Aldersgate Village.
Earle was born October 21, 1917 in Gove County, Kansas the son of Claude C. and Stella (Doty) Wilkinson. He graduated from Quinter High School in 1936 and Kansas State College in 1947.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 as a Combat Infantryman during World War II. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1953.
He was employed as a Civil Engineer with the State of Kansas, Department of Transportation from 1947 to 1984 and retired as the Kansas State Bridge Engineer.
He was an active member of Crestview United Methodist Church where he had served as Treasurer in the church's early years, and a member of the Kiwanis Club of West Topeka, where he had served as President. He was also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Kansas Engineering Society.
Earle married Beulah A. Todd on May 3, 1942 in Gove County. She died December 4, 1982. He later married Vivian Mackey on May 19, 1984. She died March 24, 2002. Survivors include: daughters Marilyn Wilkinson and husband, Richard Antonetti, Chula Vista, CA; Kathleen Beard and husband, Michael, Colorado Springs, CO; Patricia Rager and husband, Jon, Topeka; step-son, David Mackey and wife, Jodi, Topeka; step-daughter, Cheryl Graney, and husband, Joe, Paducah, KY; 4 grandsons; 1 step-grandson; 2 step-granddaughters; 2 great-granddaughters; and 1 step-great-grandson. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beulah Mae Wilkinson; brother, Merlin Wilkinson; and sister, Amy Wilkinson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Crestview United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Earle will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
