Ebony Latonya Boykins

January 18, 1991 — June 13, 2015

Ebony LaTonya Boykins, 24, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at The University of Kansas Medical Center on June 13, 2015. Ebony was born on January 18, 1991, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Bruce Bell Jr. and Tonya Renae Boykins.

Ebony grew up in Topeka, Kansas, where she attended Topeka Public Schools. After high school, she attended Washburn Institute of Technology where she obtained her C.N.A. license. Ebony had a strong heart and was always helping others.

Ebony lived for her children and was an excellent mother. Her favorite pastime was to care for her children and when you saw her, you saw them. She also loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Ebony always enjoyed her family's frequent gatherings. Her favorite part of the family gatherings was eating her Aunt Jennie's strawberry cake, her Auntie Sharon's dressing, her Dad's steak, and her Mom's potato salad. Ebony was known for "telling it like it is" and will always be remembered for her smile.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Bruce Bell Jr. and Tonya Renae Boykins of Topeka; daughters, Eziyah La'Nae Boykins and Destiny Evonne Ja'Nae Fulton, both of Topeka; son, Ramire Rashaud Boykins of Topeka; brother, Chadwick Reddick Boykins of Bronx, N.Y.; sister, Jamie Wright of Topeka; grandmother, Bobby Jean Boykins of Topeka; her two aunts that assisted in raising her, Velma Holloway and Sharon Wright both of Topeka; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ebony will lay in state Thursday, June 25th, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka, Kansas, where family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.

Services will be held Friday, June 26th, at 11 a.m. at True Vine Missionary Baptist, 307 SE Tefft St., Topeka, Kansas. Interment will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
