Edgar J. "Ed" Burdiek, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March 5, 1930 in Seneca, Kansas, the son of Frank Anthony and Anna Agnes (Meyer) Burdiek.
Ed served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 - 1954 serving aboard the U.S.S. Boxer during the Korean War. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and was retired from Topeka Metal Specialties in 1989. His passion was building homes. He built homes in the Topeka area full and part time throughout his life. He was a life member of the U.S.S. Boxer Association.
Ed married RayAnn Helen Fair on July 18, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2016. Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Francis Burdick, Norbert Burdick, Leonard Burdick, Regis Burdiek, Wilbur Burdiek, Imelda Skoch and Marjorie Steinlage.
Survivors include two children, Joseph R. (Barbara) Burdiek of Topeka, Debra J. Edwards of Haysville, Kansas, four grandchildren, Jennifer Burdiek, Kevin Burdiek, Cole Edwards, Will Edwards, one great-granddaughter, Briley Wylie, his sister, Bernice Glover and many nieces and nephews.
He and his wife, RayAnn enjoyed traveling and attending family sporting and musical events. He enjoyed visiting with friends during his daily walks at Lake Shawnee and the Mall and his morning Happy Hours at McDonald's.
Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Ed's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
