Edith Malinda Blodgett

Edith Malinda Blodgett, 94, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022.

She was born July 20, 1928, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Charley J. and Alys E. (Scofield) Wilson. She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1945 and received a bachelor's degree in education from Kansas State University in 1949.

Edith was employed as a teacher for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

Ms. Blodgett was a member of 4H, teaching about the subject of soil conservation. She was a Kansas 4H State Champion in baking and was a delegate from Kansas to the National 4H Convention.

Edith married Hugh A. Blodgett in 1949 in Manhattan, KS. They later divorced. Survivors include her children, J.A. Blodgett, Zane Blodgett and Bettyloue A. Blodgett; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her siblings Marjorie A. Wilson, Betty Bottom, Joe Wilson and Clark Wilson. She was preceded in death by her sons D.A. Blodgett and H.A. Blodgett.

Edith enjoyed working - especially teaching the sixth grade at Mayetta Elementary.

Edith donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center. A celebration of Edith's life will be held 11:30 am Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Dover Fellowship Hall, 13535 SW 57th St., Topeka, KS.
