Edith M. Reed

Edith M. Reed, 73, of Topeka, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Midland Care. She was born October 27, 1939 at Hoyt, KS the daughter of Orville Plants and Annie Plants Berberick.

Edith was raised in Hoyt and attended Hoyt schools, including Hoyt Grade School when it was just a one room school. She made many lasting friendships, including her teacher, who was a good friend during her later years.

Edith married Richard Reed on June 21, 1959 at Topeka. She was a school bus driver for the Seaman school district for over 25 years. Edith loved driving the school bus and she always appreciated the many smiles and hugs she received from her "kids". Over the span of that many years, she even wound up driving the second generation of many of her "kids".

Edith enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in many activities including school programs and band concerts, as well as attending "Grandparent Days" and their baseball and basketball games.

Edith is survived by her husband Richard, children, Terry Reed (Shelia), Tonya Campbell (Michael), Timmy Reed; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, and two brothers. She is preceded in death by her parents, and an infant son.

A visitation to celebrate Edith's life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 8th at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66606. A private family inurnment will be held at Grantville Cemetery following the visitation.
