Edmund N. Morrill II, 84, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011.

Edmund Needham Morrill II was born July 8, 1927, in Hiawatha, Kansas. He was the son of Anna McCoy Morrill and Frank N. Morrill. Edmund was the grandson of Edmund N. Morrill, 13th Governor of Kansas. He graduated from Wentworth Military Academy and served in the US Navy V-5 program. Edmund graduated from Kansas University in 1949. He married Georgiana Sewell on February 26, 1949, in Sabetha, Kansas. Edmund joined Hallmark Card Co. for 10 years, and then spent 35 years with Capitol Federal Savings as senior vice president.

He belonged to Phi Delta Theta fraternity at KU, served as president of Topeka Country Club, and served as Commodore of the Grand Lake Yacht Club in Grand Lake, Colorado. Edmund served the United Way of Topeka in various capacities and was the President of the Brewster Place board of directors.

He loved golf, antique cars, and sailing at their home in Colorado.

Edmund leaves his wife of 62 years, Georgiana, four children, David (wife Stephanie) Morrill, Thomas (wife Kim) Morrill, Curtis (wife Karen) Morrill, and Ann (husband Charles) Buffum, 10 grandchildren, Dr. Carrie Morrill (husband Eric Stonebraker), David C. Morrill, Matthew N. Morrill, Scott N. Morrill, Brooke M. (husband Jon) Borgen, Dr. Mary L. Morrill, Hanna M. (husband Aaron) Rich, Molly S. Morrill, Mallie E. Buffum, and Sam M. Buffum, and two great-granddaughters, Ilsa Borgen and Greta Borgen. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary M. Litchfield and Frances M. O'Neil, and two grandchildren, Charles Buffum and Jenna G. Morrill.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the First Congregational Church, 1700 SW Collins, Topeka, KS 66604. Private family interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. Mr. Morrill will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Brewster Place Foundation, 1205 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611, First Congregational Church, or to Alzheimer Association, 4125 SW Gage Center Dr., Topeka, KS 66604.
