Edna Bean

Edna "Jane" Bean, 83, Topeka, passed away Sat., May 30, 2009 at her residence. Born on Jan. 28, 1926 in Tecumseh, the daughter of Henry and Edith (Taylor) Riley.

She was a graduate of Highland Park High School.

Jane married Arthur Bean on Jan. 12, 1947. He preceded in her in death on Jan. 4, 1996.

Jane was a long time volunteer for Senior Meal Services in Lecompton, KS.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Lloyd) Neuschafer of Tecumseh and Janie Bean of Lenexa, KS; brother, Vernon Riley of Tecumseh and sister, Helen Gerisch of Overbrook.

Jane was preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta Slusser and Laura Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tues., June 2 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Jane will lie in state from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Mon., June 1 at the funeral home. Cremation is to follow with private interment at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
