Edna "Pauline" Childers, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at a Topeka hospital. She was born October 29, 1921 in Strickler, Arkansas, the daughter of Lemuel O. and Verna May (Jones) Bruner.
Pauline graduated from Evansville High School in Evansville, Arkansas in 1940. She has resided in Topeka since 1956 and was a member of Walnut View Christian Church.
Pauline married Glen T. Childers on April 17, 1942 in Kremlin, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1990. She was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
Survivors include their four children, Carol Lea Hubbard, Jean Bernita West, Wesley Vance Childers and Rex Turney Childers, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great-grandchild and her sister, Freida Lee Pullar.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Walnut View Christian Church. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Pauline will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alpha Christian Children's Home, 15017 27th St, Perry, Kansas 66073 or to the Walnut View Christian Church, 3634 SE 37th St, Topeka, Kansas 66605.
