Edna Engler

June 3, 1927 — November 17, 2011

Edna I. Engler, 84, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 17, 2011, in Topeka, KS. She was born June 3, 1927 in Angeline, MO, the daughter of William G. and Lula J. (Akers) Wilkins.

Edna attended school in Shannon County, MO and later worked as an inventory clerk at Forbes Air Force Base. Edna was a loving homemaker and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She had been an active member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the Auburn Grange, Six Mile Circle and Jolly Jane organizations. Edna's generosity and humor made her a family anchor and a blessing to countless friends who knew her.

Edna is survived by her devoted husband Glen E. Engler, whom she wed on March 11, 1949 in Topeka. She is also forever remembered by her loving siblings, Thelma Price and Leland Wilkins, both in MO; beloved sons, Michael Engler and his wife Lisa, Topeka, and Kenneth Engler, Auburn; treasured grandchildren, Jessica Engler, Ila Berry and Penny Engler. Edna was preceded in death by 10 siblings and David James Nichols, whom she married on December 13, 1943. David died during World War II on October 20, 1944 at Layte in the Philippine Islands.

The family thanks Clare Bridge of Topeka for their compassionate assistance during Edna's stay.
