Edna Pearl Smith, 93, of Tecumseh, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on February 3, 1917 in Council Grove, KS, the daughter of Walter and Elva Converse Baker. She graduated from Council Grove High School in 1936. She was employed by Jostens Yearbook Company for 20 years before retiring in 1982.
Edna married Earl L. Smith on July 23, 1938 in Council Grove. He preceded her in death on May 15, 1966. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Esther Algarin, in 2008 and her grandson, Douglas Lee Potter, in 1996. Survivors include her children; Floyd Smith, Linda (Sid) Pracht, Lynnette (Tom) Potter, Donna (Jim) Clark, Debbie Sarver, Paula (Abbott) Smith, son-in-law, Ray Algarin, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove at a later date.
