Edward William "Bill" Girling, III, 66 years old, passed away on December 21, 2012 in Topeka, Kansas of natural causes. Bill was born in St. Joseph, Mo. on October 15, 1946. He graduated from Sheridan High School and attended college but was drafted. He served as a medic in Vietnam while in the U.S. Army. Bill loved to laugh, to travel, to watch MU Sports, the Royals and the Chiefs on a good year, to cook and eat great food, to spend time with his family and friends and to phone them regularly to check on everyone. He was optimistic, generous, loyal, grateful and always planned to win the lottery.
Bill is survived by his sister Marcia, brother-in-law Zahid, nephews Taimoor (Heather) and Rehan, niece Sacha and great niece and nephew, Nicole and Tyler. He is also survived by his aunts, Anna Lee Cousins and Betty Parman, uncle, Dr. Robert Parman and many cousins for whom he cared deeply. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Gwynetha Girling, grandparents, Elmer and Urith Parman and Mary Girling, uncle, Dr. Russel Parman, aunt, Edith Hines, cousins, Penny Parman, Nancy Prather and John Cousins.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. Any memorial donations can be made to the Gwynetha Girling Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Northwest Foundation, Inc. or a charity of your choice.
