Edward Kapelle

Edward "Ed" H. Kapelle, 86, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, July 24, 2011. He was born April 8, 1925 in Baldwin, Kansas the son of Edward F. and Louise Kapelle. He was a graduate of Baldwin High School.

Edward was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII. On February 14, 1947, he married Ann Collins in Baldwin, Kansas. He was a salesman for M. Katch & Co. and later owned and operated Motor Parts Inc. where he retired in 1987. Edward was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, Allenspark Community Church, Allenspark Area Club, both in Allenspark, CO and the American Legion Post No. 32.

Edward is survived by his daughters, Jane (John) Stonebraker, Judy (Dave) Sorrell and Joni (Steven) Atherly; his grandchildren, Jamie, Daniel, Matthew, Andrew, Shelley, Stacey and Jeffrey; eight great grandsons and his first great granddaughter due in August. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann and his son Dan Kapelle.

Edward will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 28 at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Overbrook Cemetery.
