Edward R. Fenton, Jr., 81, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014. He was born December 3, 1932 in Clairton, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward R. and Anna Schneider, Sr.
Ed was a career Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He then went to work for General Electric Medical Systems before retiring.
Ed married Sharon K. Swearingen on July 26, 1958 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Linda A. Fenton (Hasan) Kaya of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sandra L. (Robert) McManus of Berryton, Kansas, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and three brothers, Thomas Fenton, Russell Fenton and Gary Fenton all of Pennsylvania. Ed was preceded in death by one son, Edward R. Fenton, III on May 15, 2009.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Ed will lie in state from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Combat Air Museum, P.O. Box 19142, Topeka, KS 66619.
