Dr. Edward Russell Wood, 75, of Topeka, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 9, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Gary and Marge (Kammerer) Wood. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Spanish before earning his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City and went on to dedicate 40 years of his career to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, where he was deeply committed to his patients and his work as a physician. He retired in 2018.
In retirement, Edward enjoyed a cold craft beer, spending time with his grandchildren, caring for his chihuahuas, and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bridget, his children, Becky Bowen, Stephanie Sisk, and Kevin Wood, and his sons-in-laws, Brady Sisk and Jon Bowen. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
A private celebration of life will be held on March 22, 2025.
