We celebrate and honor the life of our husband, father and brother. He entered Heaven on Wednesday, July 29, 2010. Ed was born September 22, 1935 in Newfane, New York, the son of Edwin Charles and Helen Caroline (Sprenger) Niles. He had a zest and passion for life, family, friends and adventure.
Ed served in the United States Air Force, ending up at Forbes and adopting Topeka as his home town. He is survived by his loving wife Lois of 50 years; his brothers; his children, Brad, Doug, Tracie and their spouses; four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Ed was generous with his time, talents and treasure to a variety of charitable organizations including Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross and Christ Lutheran Church. Ed was selfless and worked to fulfill the needs of others.
We remember Ed as "Mr. Fix-It", a master collector and a provider of comic relief—when needed (or not!).
Please join us in a Celebration of Ed's Life to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, KS with a lunch reception immediately following. Memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity/Thrivent Builds and Midland Hospice.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3
