Edwin Dwight Hoffman

Edwin Dwight Hoffman, 93, of Topeka, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
He was born June 29, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Ervin F. and Vallie V. (Collins) Hoffman. He served in the Navy and Coast Guard during World War Two.
Ed could fix anything - and would help anyone. He spent most of his career employed by the City of Des Moines for almost 30 years as a zoning inspector. Anyone who came in contact with him instantly knew and loved him and he will be missed for the joy he brought to others.
Ed married Donna Belle Hoffman on November 25, 1953 in Des Moines. She preceded him in death on December 28, 2008. Survivors include his children, Vicky Robinson of Topeka and son Rick Hoffman (Carrie) of Des Moines; grandchildren Cherie Huffman (Kevin), Brandy Pearson, and Angela Hoffman; five great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Donna Belle Hoffman, brother Harold Hansen and sister Pat Hickle.
Ed enjoyed fishing, camping, eating sweets, teaching his dog Tonya tricks, the casino, spending time with his family and friends and rooting for his Cubbies!
There will be a private family gathering. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
