Elaine Kellogg 82, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2008 at Summerville Assisted Living Facility in Ocala, Fl. Elaine was born August 10, 1925 in Junction City, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Minnie Bennett. She graduated from Junction City High School and married her high school sweetheart, C.L. "Tuffy" Kellogg on May 17, 1943. After the war they lived in Salina, where Tuffy attended Kansas Wesleyan University. They later lived in Agra, Mankato, where Elaine worked as a secretary for the school superintendent, Junction City, Manhattan, where she worked for the Extension Department while Tuffy earned his Masters Degree, and finally to Topeka in 1956. She worked for several years for the Kaw Valley Girl Scout Council and in 1975 became a paraprofessional in the Special Education program of Outdoor Environmental Education. She also worked for TEC before retiring in 1988, only to return to substitute in various special education classes. She loved gardening, sewing, crafts and cats. She had been in declining health and lived the past 2 years near her son in Ocala. She is preceded in death by her husband in 2006. She is survived by her son, Mike of Ocala; grandchildren, Holly Long of Dallas, Texas, Pat Kellogg of Raytown, Mo; two nieces in Oregon and great-grandchildren in Dallas. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, Topeka. Mrs. Kellogg will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, in Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Interment will be at Topeka Cemetery.
