Eldon Thomas "Tom" Hedges, 87, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015.
He was born December 28, 1927, in Offerle, Kansas, the son of Benjamin and Hazel (Schenk) Hedges.
Tom was a 1946 graduate of Offerle High School. He was a proud power plant worker at KPL and Westar Energy for 39 years. He retired from Jeffrey Energy Center. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and a 65 year member of IBEW Local 304.
Tom married Mary LaVon Winney on March 21, 1950, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2005.
Survivors include daughter, Carol (John Toaspern) Hedges; sons, Thomas (Nancy) Hedges and Benjamin "Ben" (Betty) Hedges; brothers, Emmett and Samuel Hedges; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers.
A remembrance for Tom will be held at 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015, at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66606. The celebration of his life will continue from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Reed's Lakeside, 2920 SE Croco Road, Topeka.
