Elio "Cuate" Vega, 85, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015.
He was born August 15, 1929 in Matamoros, Mexico, the son of Eleno and Candida (Torres) Vega.
Elio was employed by Skinner's Nursery in Topeka and later for IBP in Emporia for five years.
He was a member of Jerusalen Asamblea de Dios.
Elio married Ofelia Jimenez on January 9, 1949 in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She survives of the home. Other survivors include 13 children, Saturnino, Jeremias, Eliseo, Daniel, Rogelio, Irma, Alfredo, Jaime, Herminia, Armandina, Ramiro, Juan and Homero; 44 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maria Vega. He was preceded in death by his parents, and several siblings.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Salvation Army Church, 1320 SE 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66607. The family will also meet at 10 a.m., Friday at the Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606 to go in procession to the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.
