Elizabeth "Betty" Stapleton

Elizabeth "Betty" G. Stapleton, 83, of Topeka passed away on August 23, 2004 at a local nursing home. She attended Riley County Schools through Junior High School and later attended Harveyville High School. Betty was an employee of JCPenney and was involved in the family business of Acme Radio Supply. Betty was actively involved in Highland Park United Methodist Church, Homebuilders Sunday School Class and Women's Christian Association. She was also active in Girl Scouts and Navy Mothers. Also Highland Park Optimist Club. She has been a resident of Topeka since 1938.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Bodine and Jan Trulson, both of Topeka. Five Brothers; Bernard Morris of Orlando, FL. Marion Morris Roseville, CA. Robert Morris of Auburn, KS. John Morris of Richmond, VA. Gary Morris of Topeka. One Sister, Marilyn Stanley of Cherry Valley, CA. Two Grandsons; Jeff Bodine and wife Becky and Pat Bodine. and Two Great Grandchildren; Tanner and Michael Bodine. Many Nieces and Nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Jim on July 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Bodine. One son in law, Barry Trulson, and two brothers, Walter Morris and Kenneth Morris.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 27, 2004 at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Betty will lie in state on Thursday from 3:00-8:30 pm, where the family will be present from 7:00-8:30.
