Elizabeth Joan (Garner) Stubbings was born on April 18, 1932, in New Orleans, LA, and went to be with Jesus on April 5, 2025. She was preceded in death by parents Pauline (Andrews) Garner Keim, Lonnie Garner, and stepfather Floyd Keim. Elizabeth was a 1950 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. Elizabeth was employed by American States Insurance as a commercial underwriter. She held the designation of Certified Professional Insurance Woman (CPIW) as a member of the Insurance Women of Topeka where she held the office of Education Chairman. She retired in 1986 when the Topeka office for American States closed.
Elizabeth and Harris Kent Stubbings were married on August 25, 1951, in the chapel at Fort Holabird outside of Baltimore, MD, and celebrated 66 years of marriage. She is survived by their children: Brian (JoAnn) Stubbings, Chicago, IL; Karen (Gary) Bransgrove Cadwallader, Centennial, CO; Kendra (Curt) Carter, Montgomery, TX; Kyle Stubbings, Peachtree Corners, GA; daughter-in-law Kristi Stubbings, Maize, KS; and son Curtis (Kelley) Stubbings, The Woodlands, TX; grandchildren Maria and Peter (Kaicey) Stubbings; Austin (Audra) and Christopher (Julia) Bransgrove; Cali and Lucy Stubbings; Bryce (Rachel) and Avery Stubbings; and Eric (Stefanie) Stubbings and Paige (Andy) Taylor; step-grandchildren Charles (Yvonne) and Chris Carter; and great grandchildren Lucas Stubbings; William and Becca Bransgrove; Henry Stubbings; and Clark Taylor; and sister-in-law Wilma Keim. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother John Keim, stepsister Jackie Darlene Keim Walker, sisters-in-law June Sheldon and Audrey Dial, son Dirk Stubbings, son-in-law Alan Bransgrove, daughter-in-law Beth Stubbings, and great grandson Oliver Stubbings.
Elizabeth most recently was a member of Town and Country Christian Church after being a member of Northland Christian and Central Park Christian churches where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Her activities included crocheting Afghans (two for each grandchild), reading action and mystery books, and planning reunions for the Topeka High School (1950 Golden Class).
Visitation will be Friday, April 25, from 5 to 7pm, with funeral service to be held on Saturday, April 26, at 10am at SW Dove Cremations & Funerals, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
