Ella Maude Downey

Ella Maude Downey, 92, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016. She was born January 26, 1923, in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Hedley and Violet Mootrey.

Maude married Fred Downey on January 21, 1942 at St. John's, Newfoundland. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2015. She is survived by her children, Pam (Bill) Hoyt, Ward Downey, Paula Downey, and Steve Downey; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents and two sons, James W. and Fred D. Downey; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Penwell Gabel Cemetery.
