Ellen C. Swarts, 79, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Aldersgate Village.
She was born August 12, 1929 in Topeka, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (Elkins) Holden. She graduated from Seaman High School.
Ellen and her husband owned and operated the Swarts Clothing Store in Osage City. She was also employed by the Citizens State Bank in Osage City. Mrs. Swarts was a former member of the Osage City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and current member of Suzanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Topeka. She was also a member of the Osage City O.E.S., and P.E.O.
She married Russell Swarts on October 6, 1948 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter Diane Ballou and husband, Steve; two grandsons, Matt and Brad Ballou; and a sister, Doris Kendall of Burlingame, KS.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 at Osage City Cemetery, Osage City, KS. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday 8, 2009 at Aldersgate Village. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care of Kansas, 2900 SW Oakley Ave, Topeka, KS 66614 or to Alzheimer's Association, 4125 SW Gage Center Dr., Topeka, KS 66604.
