Elmer" Elmo" Edward Senne, 92, of Topeka, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Atria Hearthstone. He was born June 26, 1919 in McFarland, KS, the son of Emil W. and Mary (Mathies) Senne.
Elmer graduated from Topeka High School in 1937 and attended Strickler's Business College in Topeka. He served in the United States Army during WWII, and the Korean Conflict, leaving the military with an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Coach Carpenter for 39 years, retiring in 1979. Elmer married Doretha Cope on March 15, 1947 in Topeka. She preceded him in death.
Elmer is survived by his children, Bill Senne (Kathy), Hoyt, KS, Ron Senne (Rene), Topeka, Jerry Senne (Diane), Topeka, Stan Senne (Glenda), Topeka; and sister, Mildred Moore, Auburn, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 30, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 29th at Dove.
