Elmer Nordstrom

Elmer Nordstrom, 93, of Tecumseh, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1914 in Topeka, the son of Carl Albert and Bertha Murphy Nordstrom. He attended Topeka public schools. He owned and operated Elmer Nordstrom Construction Company for 35 years before retiring in 1978. He farmed for many years as well. Elmer married Nellie "Jerry" Elder on October 10, 1937 in Lawrence. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2005. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Nordstrom on January 3, 1996. Survivors include one daughter, Marcia Lou Nordstrom of Tecumseh and one sister, Bernadine Nordstrom Garwood of Topeka. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. Elmer will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Tecumseh United Methodist Church, 334 S.E.
