Elsie Atkisson
Elsie M. Atkisson, 82, of Topeka passed away at her home on March 8, 2004. She was born on Oct. 2, 1921 in Henley, MO to John and Emma Jenkins Fisher.
Elsie was a homemaker and helped her husband in the beauty supply business. Her life revolved around her family, she was a professional wife, mother and grandma. On July 15, 1940 she married Ercil "Buck" Atkisson in Olathe, KS; he passed away July 30, 2001. They also lost an infant girl, Helen Marie in 1960 and a son Michael Allen in 1978.
Elsie is survived by her daughter Linda Mathis of Chillicothe, IL and her son John Atkisson, his wife Marty of Emporia, KS. There are three grandchildren, Amy Atkisson, Robin Mathis and Robert C. Mathis and three great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Toys for Tots and sent in care of the funeral home.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
