Elwyn A. "Peanuts" Carr, 86, Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Elwyn was born December 14, 1927 in Old Huron, KS, the son of Arnold and Esther (Meyer) Carr. He attended school in Old Huron.
He worked at Beatrice Foods plant, Scotch Cleaners, Ripley's Cleaners, and the State of Kansas. He retired from the Department of Health & Environment in 1989.
Elwyn married Gladys Haverkamp on August 23, 1956 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include son, Daniel Carr, Topeka. Daniel's wife, Carri, deceased; daughter Diane (Gary) Chriss, Everest; and grandson, Gavin Chriss. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Gary; and an aunt, Elsie Meyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
