Emily C. "Babe" Tilton, 96, Topeka, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at a Topeka care center.
She was born Jan. 18, 1909 in Chapman, the youngest of seven children born to Herman and Wilhamina "Minnie" Staatz.
"Babe", as she was known to all her friends, owned and operated Babe's Beauty Nook at 604 South Kansas Ave. for many years.
She married Kenneth Tilton on Sept. 4, 1937. He died April 3, 1992. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tilton will lie in state from noon to 4:00 pm Tuesday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 4020 SW 6th Ave. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
