Emma Dora Apps, 96, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021.
She was born September 25, 1924, in Gateshead, England, the daughter of Elias Henderson and Celia (Coombs) Dodds.
Emma was employed by USD 501 as a cook for many years.
Mrs. Apps was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church of Topeka for over 50 years. She was also a member of the IOOF Lodge of Topeka and was a volunteer at the VA.
Emma married Alonzo Alfred Apps on December 28, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Wilden-Guffey (Melvin) of Topeka; two sons Robert Apps and Sid Apps; grandchildren Jason Wilden (Erin) of San Diego, CA, and Nathan Wilden (Chelsea) of Topeka; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter Carol Sue Reif on April 23, 2001.
Emma enjoyed reading, knitting, crochet, and loved bingo. She also enjoyed puzzles and card games. Being from England, her tea and her sweets were a very important part of her day.
Emma was cremated. A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka with burial to follow.
