Emmy Lou Stevens, born on May 25, 1937, in Brunswick, Maine, passed away peacefully on December, 6 2024, Topeka. Throughout her life, Emmy exemplified a remarkable spirit and a deep devotion to her family and friends.
Emmy was the loving wife of Ronald Stevens for an incredible 67 years. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. She is also survived by her daughter, Suzanne Meredith and three grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Known for her bright spirit, Emmy filled her days with joyful pursuits and meaningful connections. She had a passion for sewing, spending many happy hours creating beautiful items that reflected her creativity. Her love for her schnauzers added warmth to their home, as these furry companions were a part of her family life. Additionally, Emmy was an avid bridge player, where her skills and enthusiasm brought friends together for many spirited games.
Emmy’s dedication to her family was evident as she proudly supported them during 22 years of military service. This commitment showcased not only her loyalty but also her understanding of the unique challenges faced by military families. She cared and gave special attention to her son Jim Stevens.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, James A. Stevens; her sister, Sarah Coughlin; and her parents, James Scribner and Janice Scribner. Each of these losses weighed on her heart but never diminished her capacity to love or her unwavering support for those around her.
As we remember Emmy Lou Stevens, we celebrate a woman whose life was rich with love, creativity, and a competitive spirit. She will be deeply missed by her husband and all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. She will be missed by Wanamaker at Woods Nazarene Church.
