Ernest “Ernie” Earl Lang Jr., 61, of Wakarusa, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
He was born August 6, 1962, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Ernest and Elveria (Schiffelbein) Lang.
He graduated from the Highway Patrol School in Salina, KS and began working for the State of Kansas under the Highway Patrol, Capitol Area Police in 1984. He worked there for 30 years, retiring in 2015 but continued part-time as a civilian employee in the same position until his passing.
Survivors include daughter, Jessy Lang; sister, Cynthia Calkins; brother, Paul (Deborah) Lang; nieces, Sarah Jones and Shannon Abernathy; and nephews, Jarrod Lang, Brian Lang, and Zach Roose.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ernie enjoyed dove hunting, fishing and especially drag racing.
Ernie’s wishes were for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS. Ernie's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
