Esther I. Stein, 94, Kansas City, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at a care center in Kansas City.
Esther was born November 10, 1918 in Tecumseh, the daughter of A.B. and Elsie (Bates) Cusic. She graduated from Highland Park High School.
She was employed as a secretary for Santa Fe Railroad for several years.
She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she worked in the food pantry, served as a Docent at the Topeka Zoo, and volunteered at hospice.
Esther married John Allen King in 1947. He died in 1951. She married Frank A. Stein in 1953. He died in 1990. Survivors include son, Lawrence "Larry" King and wife, Patti, Shawnee; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
