Esther J. Pugh, 77, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at a local hospital.
Esther was born January 12, 1935 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Schmoltzi) Watson. She was raised on the family farm outside Oskaloosa Kansas. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School and attended Clarks Business School.
She had been employed at Santa Fe Railroad for 15 years, until becoming a stay at home mom.
She was a former member of First United Methodist Church.
Esther married Colman Pugh in 1957. They later divorced. Survivors include daughter, Debra (Jerry) McInerney, Lawrence; sons, James (Patty) Pugh, Robert (Robyn) Pugh, all of Topeka; five grandchildren; brother, Bill Watson, Meriden; and sisters, Mary Frances Irwin, Topeka and Virginia Vibbert, Kernersville, NC. She was preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth, Randall and Frank and her twin sister Ethel Gooch.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private family interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
