Eugene D. Preston

Eugene D. Preston, 75, of Topeka, died Sat. January 2, 2010 at Topeka Community Health Care Center. He was born November 7, 1934 in Lockwood, MO, the son of Irvin Isaac and Muriel Etlena Preston.
Eugene attended Greenfield High School in Greenfield, MO. He served in the US Navy for 4 years, serving in post Korean War. After his military service Eugene married Anna Melvina Turner in August of 1957, which later ended in divorce. To this marriage 3 children were born, Charles, Cynthia and Lisa. He is survived by Charles and Lisa. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Donnaphine Ayers of Phoenix, AZ, Corena Bretz of Haines City, FL; 1 half-sister Famma Jean Ross of Joplin, MO; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. Preceding him in death, were his parents, 1 brother Lindy, and 1 daughter Cynthia .
Eugene worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita and they moved to the Kansas City Area where he was employed by the Bendix Corporation. Eugene worked for Santa Fe Railroad until his disability no longer allowed him to work. Later, he made his home in Miami County and took up farming until again, his disability no longer allowed him to work. He was a member of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Penwell Gabel Cemetery in Topeka. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association 837 South Hillsdale, Wichita, KS 67211.
