Evelyn Faye Adkison passed away May 8, 2007. She was born December 9, 1918 at Wakarusa, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence W. Little and Allie Neill Little. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1937 and attended Kansas State University.
She married Emory H. Adkison, Jr. on October 12, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene Adkison, Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Gladys J. Luce, Berryton and a brother, Dean R. Little, Topeka.
Evelyn was intelligent, gracious and possessed a wry wit. She touched many lives. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Topeka Council of Garden Clubs and a past member of the Queen of Spades Garden Club. She was a 67-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron of Clarice Chapter #390 in 1947 and 1974 at Wakarusa. She was Past District Aide of District #14 and a member of the Past Matrons and Past Patrons organization, OES. In later years, she worked for the Secretary of the Senate of the Kansas Legislature. She was also active in: the American Legion Auxiliary, Social Order of the Beauciants, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Ancient Tol Tec Rite, Women of the Moose, Highland Park High School Alumni Association, Nobelles of Arab Shrine Temple, Santa Fe Retirees and an auxiliary member of the Retired Military Officers Association of America.
Mrs. Adkison will lie in state after Noon, Friday, May 11, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel in Topeka. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
