Evelyn M. Vansyoc

Evelyn M. VanSyoc, 87, Topeka, went home to heaven on Wednesday, December 23, 2009. She died at Stormont Vail Hospital after a sudden illness.

Evelyn was a spirited lady who loved life. She was born November 23, 1922, in Emporia, Kansas to George W. Nevitt and Grace McCullough Nevitt. She married Donald E. VanSyoc on September 6, 1941. Evelyn and Donald lived in Emporia and later Admire, Kansas until Donald's death in April 1987. Evelyn then moved to Topeka where she lived with her family until her death. Evelyn was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald Gary VanSyoc and wife, Carolyn, of Emporia, Larry Edward VanSyoc and wife, Debra, of Hillsboro, and Alan Patrick VanSyoc and wife, Glenda, of Topeka. Also surviving is her sister, Grace Cathryn Fronczak, of Kennewick, Washington, and her brother, Carl Nevitt, of Vancouver, Washington. Evelyn has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn will be deeply missed.

Memorial services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010. A private family inurnment will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage, Topeka, Kansas, 66604.
