Evelyn M. McBride, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born February 20, 1933 in Goff, KS, the daughter of Clarence and Goldie Prawl Massek. Evelyn was raised in Goff and has resided in Topeka since 1950.
She was employed by Jostens Yearbook Company for many years before retiring in March, 1998. Evelyn married James T. "JT" McBride on October 13, 1950 in Oklahoma City, OK. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one son, James T. McBride, Jr. and her siblings, Clarence Massek, Everett Massek and Henry Massek.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary A. McBride of Topeka, grandchildren, Christy and William McBride of Salina, Scott, Ryan and Brittany Moore, all of Topeka, siblings, A. Dale Massek, Harold Massek and Eloise Self, her daughter-in-law, Debbie McBride, her son-in-Law, Gary Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Evelyn will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
