Fern E. Wagstaff, 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016. She was born November 15, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of William and Ethel (Root) Mossman.
Fern was the Executive Secretary for the Director of the Kansas Department of Transportation for over 40 years, spanning 6 different administrations.
Fern married George D. Wagstaff on October 5, 1946 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2009. Survivors include a son, Dr. Stanley D. Wagstaff; grandchildren, Jennifer Carter (Chris) and Justin Wagstaff of Topeka; great-grandchildren, Jack, Ben and Kate and sister-in-law, Kathryn Pooley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, her twin sister, Francis Smith (Bob); brother, Richard "Dick" Mossman (Carolyn) and daughter-in-law, Judy Wagstaff.
Fern enjoyed her work, friends and living on the family farm, but most of all she loved her family dearly.
Per her request, Fern was cremated and no services will be held. Private family interment will be at Zion Cemetery in Tecumseh, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Topeka, 3625 SW 29th Street Suite 102, Topeka, KS 66614 or Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
