Florence Grace Spiegel

Florence Grace Spiegel, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born on March 15, 1917 in Chanute, Kansas to George W. and Grace E. (Murray) Conkright.

Florence graduated from Topeka High School in 1936. She worked at Adams Bros. Printing from 1936 to 1943 and later was in ladies ready to wear retail. Florence moved to Topeka in 1932 and remained there her entire life except for ten years when she lived in St. Joseph, MO. She married Charles William Spiegel at St. Joseph, MO in 1940 and together they celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church and Active Prime Timers.

Mrs. Spiegel is survived by her husband, their children, Don (Linda) Spiegel of Carrollton, MO; David Spiegel and Janet Spiegel both of Topeka; one twin brother Floyd (Aleen) Conkright of Overland Park; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23 at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mrs. Spiegel will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Crestview United Methodist Church, 2245 SW Eveningside Dr, Topeka, KS 66614.
