Florence M. Reynolds Scott, 99, of Lawrence, formerly of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was born May 17, 1912 in Great Bend, KS, the daughter of Hilary B. and Clara M. Talbott.
She resided in the Berryton and Richland communities from 1937 to 2000. Florence lived in Lawrence for the past 11 years. She worked at the Richland State Bank for 15 years and later as a bookkeeper for Briman's Leading Jewelers for 18 years. She was a member of the Berryton United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family followed by fishing trips, sewing and crocheting.
Florence married A. Kent Reynolds on December 19, 1931. He preceded her in death in August, 1966. On September 12, 1970, she married Wilson Scott. He preceded her in death in May, 1994. Florence had three siblings, Harold Talbott, Dorothy Brice and Ron Talbott who also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Bob) Walden; two grandchildren, Cindy (Don) Wampler and Wayne (Leslie) Walden and three great-grandchildren, Mark (Rebekah) Wampler, Brad Wampler and Addison Walden.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Florence will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
