Floyd W. "Buck" McDaniel, 82, Topeka, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Rossville Health Care Center.
Buck was born June 8, 1926 in Goff, the son of Robert L. and Stella (Jones) McDaniel. He graduated from Wetmore High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 400 and the VFW.
He was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
He worked at Goodyear, and later as a truck driver for Sears, retiring in 1988. He also worked at Hiller's Dairy. After retirement, he worked as a driver for Vic Yarrington Oldsmobile.
Buck married Ruth C. Middendorf on May 20, 1951 in Fairview. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Connie McDaniel; son, David (Nancy) McDaniel, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Robert McDaniel, Jeff (Heidi) McDaniel, Dustin McDaniel; great-grandchildren, Austin and Rhiana McDaniel; and brother, Harold McDaniel, Dallas, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Buck will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
