Forrest "Woodie" Halter, died on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS.
He was in retail sales in Topeka. He lived in Topeka from 1980 to the present time. He was born July 20, 1929 in Yonkers, NY, the son of C.R. and Helen Barton Halter. He attended public schools in Yonkers and graduated from Florida Southern College, Lakeland, Florida in 1951 with a journalism degree and membership in ODK honorary society.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Topeka.
He was an Air Force radar intercept officer on a F-89 jet fighter with 300 sorties flown in the 23rd fighter group, the reactivated WWII "flying tigers."
His business career included chamber of commerce management, labor relations, and sales in Virginia, South Carolina and Kansas.
Survivors include son, Gregg, Greenville, SC and daughter, Linda, Seattle, WA.
Funeral Services will be held at Countryside United Methodist church on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 11:30am.
