Frances Ann "Francy" Keearns, 66, Wakarusa, passed away unexpectedly at home early Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Francy was born October 2, 1950 in Fredonia, KS, the daughter of Raymond and Marianna (Roupp) Ecton. She graduated from Fredonia High School.

She became an LPN after graduating from Allen County Community College and also received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Ft. Scott Community College.

Francy served as a 91C20 Clinical Specialist 5 in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 at William-Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. She attended basic training at Fort McClellan in Anniston, AL as Women's Army Corp., and had the proud distinction of graduating in the first class of women as regular Army. During basic training, she earned a Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Qualification Badge, Rifle M-16 and A-1.

Francy was employed as Administrator at several long term health care facilities throughout Kansas, serving for the past 16 years as Senior Executive Director for Beverly Health Care/Golden Living/Eskridge Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was a board member of the Kansas Health Care Association.

Francy and Harold Lee Keearns, Jr. were united in marriage on October 25, 1974 in Miami, OK. He survives of the home. Other survivors include their children, Harold Lee Keearns, III, Debbie (Darren) Young, Jennifer Courser, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Young, Coltin Courser; sister, Nancy (Victor) Kmiecik, Buffalo, KS; and nephews, Darrin (Jen) Peak, Tonganoxie, KS, Chris Peak, Olathe, KS, Cameron (Shaunda) Ecton, Haysville, KS, and Channing Kmiecik, Buffalo, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2016.
